PSP (PlayStation Portable) has come out to retailers today (March 24,2005), and it has some features:
•4.3 Inch Screen with High Resolution
•Supports a full 16:9 aspect ratio, which means you can watch widescreen DVD-quality movies on it using Sony's
new UMD media format
•Plays MP3's
•Stero Speakers
The UMD is like a little DVD inside of a case and it's the primary format that PSP games and movies will come in. In fact,
the first batch of PSPs will include the 'Spider-Man 2' movie in the bundle. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical when I heard
about the UMD movies. I mean, who would want to watch a full-length movie on such a small screen, right? Wrong! When I popped
in 'Spider-Man 2,' I was totally shocked to find the picture to be incredibly sharp and detailed -- it's like watching a movie
on a mini HDTV. I am totally blown away with how well the PSP does video. You've gotta see it for yourself to understand.
Not only does it play games and movies, but you can also display digital photos and create a slideshow presentation of your
images.
